Federal Stafford Subsidized Loans

Federal Stafford Subsidized Loans carry a fixed interest rate of 6.0% for 2008 - 2009 academic year and 6.8% for unsubsidized loans. Subsidized Stafford loans first disbursed on or after July 1, 2009 and before June 30, 2010 will carry a fixed interest rate of 5.6% subsidized and 6.8% for unsubsidized Stafford loans.

Preferred lenders were chosen based on a variety of criteria that include borrower benefits, customer service and technology. You may choose a lender of your choice or on of the below or see Tips on Selecting a Student Loan Lender and Disclosure of Preferred Lenders 2009-2010. A borrower will suffer no penalty for choosing a lender not on the list. We encourage you to compare information from all providers before deciding on a lender.

  • Origination fee will be charged of 0.5%, and a default fee charged of 1% for the 2009-2010 academic year..
  • A .25% interest rate reduction when payments are automatically deducted from savings or checking account. Borrower must sign up for auto debit payment program and agree to only receive statements electronically.
  • Citbank intends to own and service your loan for the life of the loan. If for any reason, other than default, your loans are sold, the benefits, terms and conditions will remain unchanged. Citibank will also notify you should a change in servicer result from loans being sold.

  • PNC has sold loans in the past to national secondary markets, however, they do not plan to sell loans in 2008 or 2009.
