Charter Day 2025: Honoring our history, investing in Skidmore’s future

May 19, 2025

Charter Day marks the moment in 1922 when Skidmore officially became a college. Each year, the community celebrates that milestone by coming together to support students and honor a legacy built on creativity, curiosity, and care.

On May 22, alumni, families, faculty, staff, and friends will join in to invest in Skidmore’s future. Thanks to a generous group of lead Charter Day challengers, every gift to the Skidmore Fund will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $200,000, doubling the impact for scholarships, research, internships and more.

“Charter Day isn’t just about giving — it’s about rallying together to show our pride and make an impact,” President Marc C. Conner said.

When our community unites in support of students, we demonstrate that Creative Thought Matters — now more than ever.”

Every contribution supports the people and programs that make a Skidmore education possible. Donors may designate gifts to the areas that matter most to them, from financial aid, faculty and academic programs, and inclusive initiatives to athletics, sustainability, and the arts.

“I hope you’ll remember back and think of all the things that Skidmore has done for you,” said Robert Resnick '88, president of Skidmore’s Alumni Association and a member of its Board of Trustees.

Whatever your experience, whatever what your memories are of Skidmore, there’s something that enabled you to be who you are today, and I hope you’ll join in giving back on this special occasion”

Already made a gift this year? You can still participate and help unlock challenge funds. Want to do more? Create a personal challenge or matching gift to inspire others. Donning Skidmore green and yellow, sharing the campaign, and encouraging classmates to give are great ways to show your pride.

Join us May 22 to celebrate and give back to our Skidmore.

Make your gift now.
