Donna Ng Appointed Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer
August 29, 2018
Dear Members of the Skidmore Community:
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Donna Ng as Skidmore's next vice
president for finance and administration and treasurer, effective October 1, following
a national search to fill this critical leadership position.
The Board of Trustees, the President's Cabinet, and I enthusiastically welcome Donna
to the Skidmore community. The depth and breadth of her leadership, finance, and business
administration experience within the higher education and non-profit industries will
serve the College well. Donna's budgeting and financial planning expertise will help
to assure Skidmore’s continued strong financial standing as we move forward with important
college-wide initiatives, including construction of the Center for Integrated Sciences
(CIS), the largest single construction project ever undertaken at Skidmore.
Donna is currently the senior vice president for finance and administration at Simmons
College in Boston, Massachusetts; she was previously vice president for business affairs
and treasurer at Scripps College in Claremont, California. Her extensive experience
includes overseeing accounting, budgets, investments, purchasing, human resources,
facilities, grounds, public safety, real estate, emergency preparedness, dining services,
and information technology.
Donna is eager to join Skidmore to "continue ensuring Skidmore's financial stability
and fully implementing the strategic plan through collaboration with the entire community,
while working closely with the president, the cabinet, my team, and the board of trustees."
Prior to joining Simmons and Scripps, Donna served as senior associate provost for
budget and planning at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and budget director
at Babson College, also in Wellesley. She also served as director of finance and chief
information officer for a hospital network and controller for a hospital and an energy
services company. She began her professional career at KPMG, a national public accounting
firm, and received a certified public accountant (CPA) license.
Donna earned a master's degree in business administration from Babson College and
a bachelor's degree in accounting from Boston College.
Donna succeeds Michael D. West, who will retire on August 31, after 14 years at Skidmore.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Mike for his significant contribution to the College
over the years, and wish him well in his retirement.
I would like to commend the work of Kyle Bernard and Kelley Patton-Ostrander, who
are providing interim divisional leadership until Donna assumes her new role. Additionally,
I would like to acknowledge our national search firm, Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates,
for identifying and presenting numerous well-qualified candidates, and I would like
to express my gratitude to our dedicated search committee, which included Charles
Buchanan (Trustee), Jim Kennelly (vice chair), Sara Lagalwar, Crystal Dea Moore, Kelley
Patton-Ostrander, Doug Chang, and Henry Jaffe ’18.
Please join me in welcoming Donna Ng to the Skidmore community.
