Skidmore will hold in-person Commencement Exercises for the Class of 2022 on Saturday, May 21, at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. The ceremony will also be livestreamed on the Skidmore website.

Jacqueline Conrad

Jacqueline Conrad, who has earned a strong reputation for entrepreneurial leadership, savvy marketing, social impact, and engagement with and support for diverse communities, will be Skidmore’s next VP for communications and marketing.

The College will host Celebration Weekend for families Oct. 14-16, 2022. Please keep an eye on the website for the most up-to-date information as planning progresses.

Skidmore’s Summer Sessions are now enrolling students in summer courses that will run May 31 to Aug. 5. All instruction will be in person and on campus for the first time since summer 2019. The Pre-College Program will run virtually from July 5 to Aug. 5 and is currently accepting applications and enrolling high school students from across the country and around the world.

This summer’s Stewart’s Signature Series features a Skidmore Jazz Institute Faculty All-Stars tribute to George Wein as part of the Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival at SPAC; Kenny Barron Trio at Arthur Zankel Music Center; Grammy-nominated Tia Fuller, with Intersections, at Caffe Lena; and literary readings. Made possible through a generous grant from Stewart’s Shops and the Dake Family, the lineup celebrates community and collaborations with local partners.

Jazz Institute students perform

The NYS Summer Writers Institute will virtually host over 120 students from across the country in July. Readings by renowned faculty and visiting writers will also be offered virtually. The SITI Summer Theater Workshop will virtually welcome 55 theater professionals from 17 countries this June. SITI Company will be in residence, teaching classes and broadcasting public events live. Though the Skidmore Jazz Institute is on hiatus this summer, the program will produce an in-person Concert Series.

Registration for children’s Sports Camps is still open. Skidmore coaches are looking forward to having Skidmore athletes back on campus as assistant coaches this summer. New camps in ice hockey and rowing are already completely enrolled. Camp Northwoods also returns this summer and is completely enrolled. The program includes new sessions for seventh and eighth graders, and three Skidmore students are expected to join the staff.

Two exhibitions open June 4: “Alumni Invitational 5” explores nature and the environment and features works by Zaria Forman ’05, Fitzhugh Karol ’04, Zehra Khan ’04, Susan Meyer ’86, and Eliza Naranjo Morse ’01; and “Robert Tracy on Dance” includes research photographs from Tracy’s book “Balanchine’s Ballerinas: Conversations with the Muses.” Tracy ’77 was a dancer, critic, author, educator, and partner of ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev who donated his dance photos archive to Skidmore.
