AM 376: Historical Imaginings: The American Past in Fiction and Film

Professor Daniel A. Nathan MW, 2:30-3:50

This course critiques and puts in context how a handful of American novelists and filmmakers have represented the same moments in the American past.  We will examine the relationship among different narrative modes (history, fiction, and cinema) and establish criteria by which to assess historical fiction and film.
