On Wednesday, July 27, Vice President for Finance and Administration Donna Ng announced that Julie Delay has been selected as Skidmore’s new director of human resources. She will join Skidmore on Aug. 29 from Cornell University, where she has held numerous leadership roles, most recently as senior director of human resources and campus-wide initiatives at the Cornell Tech campus in New York City.

In her new role at Skidmore, Julie will provide leadership for the HR team, develop and implement a strategic HR plan, and drive innovative services and systems that help meet the College’s strategic goals to ensure a workplace culture and experience that is consistent with these goals and the College’s mission.

Julie holds a master's degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University, and brings an impressive breadth and depth of knowledge and experience in human resources, including in the areas of organizational development, climate and culture, employee relations, diversity, equity, and inclusion, professional development, financial management, operations, staffing, compensation, and data/analytics and reporting. She is also a certified executive coach.

At Cornell, she provided leadership and expertise in the design and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures to ensure the recruitment, development, and retention of a highly qualified, diverse, and effective workforce. She has been an instrumental leadership team member for Cornell Tech since the graduate campus’s inception in 2012.

Vice President Ng expressed special thanks to Sarah Delaney Vero, who has served as interim director of HR for about two years and guided the College throughout the myriad challenges presented by the pandemic. She will continue to serve the College as a strategic HR advisor.

“I have every confidence in Julie’s ability to positively shape the future of HR at Skidmore in ways that effectively adapt to meet Skidmore’s evolving workforce needs,” Vice President Ng said. “Please join me in welcoming Julie to the Skidmore community.”
