Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer Donna Ng to depart Skidmore

August 10, 2022

Dear Skidmore Community,

I write to share that Donna Ng, vice president for finance and administration and treasurer, will become the chief financial officer and vice president for business affairs at Bryant University in Rhode Island. Donna’s last day at Skidmore is Sept. 30.

Donna joined Skidmore in October 2018, bringing an extensive background of successfully overseeing budgets, accounting, investments, purchasing, human resources, facilities, grounds, campus safety, real estate, emergency preparedness, dining services, and information technology. In her four years at Skidmore, she has led the College effectively in each of these key areas.

Under her leadership, the Finance and Administration team has further evolved into an efficient, high-functioning, and collaborative team that continues to focus on delivering exceptional service to the College. Donna has also served as a strategic partner on the President’s Cabinet. Her financial acumen further strengthened Skidmore’s strong financial standing, built upon consistently balanced budgets and exhibiting strong endowment growth. This leadership contributed to myriad collegewide initiatives, including the construction of the Billie Tisch Center for Integrated Sciences, which is the largest single construction project ever undertaken at Skidmore and our first LEED-certified building.

Donna was essential to the College’s exemplary response to the COVID-19 pandemic in her role as co-chair of the COVID-19 Logistics Working Group. In addition, she led a comprehensive review of Skidmore’s healthcare benefits and of our Human Resources unit.

Her leadership role in the Campus Master Planning project contributed to the successful execution of that College-wide, inclusive planning process, which will be seminal to the College’s long-term planning going forward.

“Skidmore’s community of faculty, staff, students, and trustees has always been welcoming and supportive and it has been my honor to serve this great institution,” Donna said. “The team in the Finance and Administration division works tirelessly to support Skidmore’s mission. They have been a joy to work with and I will miss them very much.”

The team that Donna has helped build throughout Finance and Administration is quite strong, and I am grateful for all their efforts in the coming months as we transition in this important leadership role. Shortly, I will work through our shared governance processes to begin a national search to fill the Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA) role, including the formation of a representative search committee of staff, faculty, and students, and the engagement of a search consultant. In the meantime, I am considering the interim leadership options for the division.

On a personal note, Donna has been a steadfast support and partner to me in the first two years of my presidency, when Skidmore faced so many major challenges. She has been key in helping the College move through those challenges, and she leaves Skidmore in a very strong fiscal position. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the President’s Cabinet, I extend our deepest gratitude to Donna for her significant contributions to Skidmore College over these past four years. Please join me in wishing Donna the absolute best in her new position.

Sincerely,
Marc C. Conner
President
