Skidmore Encore faculty lecture series returns
The popular Skidmore Encore faculty lecture series is returning to Arthur Zankel Music Center on Tuesdays, Oct.
1 through Nov. 12. Since 1980, Skidmore faculty have been delivering lively presentations
on a broad array of topics to area residents ages 55 and older from across the local
region.
This year’s participants are invited to learn about topics such as “Boys Town: A Social
Experiment that Changed America,” “Profane Pictures, Sacred Texts: Navigating the
World of Medieval Manuscripts,” “K-pop in the DMZ and Other Transborder Crossings,”
and more, representing a wide variety of disciplines taught at Skidmore. A detailed
schedule of all presenters and topics can be found on the Skidmore Encore schedule website.
Lectures begin at 10:15 a.m. each Tuesday. Two 45-minute lectures will be delivered
each day, and a 10-minute interactive question-and-answer period will follow each
presentation.
Skidmore Encore is interesting, stimulating, and fun. It's a gift from Skidmore College to encore learners, offering access to top faculty who share their insights in a TED Talk format. Topics range from current issues to historical lessons and scientific predictions for the future.Zoe Ann ShaferPast Encore series participant
