Initiation Ceremony

The Skidmore Chapter's ceremony of initiation is held once each year, generally on the Friday before Commencement. The ceremony includes the entrance of the initiates, an introduction to PBK history and traditions, an address by the Chapter President, the signing of the roll book and the sharing of the secret handshake with the new members.

The ceremony is open to the public; all friends and relations of the initiates are invited and encouraged to attend. It is usually held in Gannett Auditorium (see the Commencement program for exact time and place); new members should plan to arrive at the designated location at least 15 minutes prior to the announced starting time to allow time for robing and lining up. The initiates should bring their caps and gowns to the ceremony and may wear all other honorary cords they have earned. A reception with light refreshments is held in the lobby at the conclusion of the proceedings.

The initiation ceremony will be held, if past practice is followed, on the Friday just before Commencement, at 2 p.m. in Gannett Auditorium.
