2020 Accepted Candidate Days
The Skidmore Philosophy Department hopes that you and your family are well during these challenging times, and we want to congratulate you on your acceptance to Skidmore College, class of 2024. This is an important achievement to be proud of, and we celebrate it with you!
As you are no doubt aware, Skidmore is currently unable to hold on-campus accepted candidates events. In their place, however, the Philosophy Department is holding informal online get-together and information sessions where you and other incoming students who are interested in philosophy can drop in to meet current philosophy majors and department faculty, find out why they study philosophy, and learn more about our program and what it has to offer for your life and future career.
Next week, we'll be holding two of these sessions on the Zoom meeting platform, and we’d very much like to meet you at whichever one fits your schedule:
Monday, April 13, 3:30pm-4:30pm ET
Friday, April 17, 3:30pm-4:30pm ET
To drop-in on a meeting from your phone or computer, just click on the above link for the session you’d like to attend, and you’ll be connected via your web browser and camera with the meeting in progress. The password for each session is:
philosophy
At the meeting, you can chat with current students and faculty about our course offerings, the philosophy major and minor, the student-run Skidmore Philosophy Club, the benefits of studying philosophy both personally and professionally, and whatever else is on your mind.
If neither of our scheduled Zoom sessions fits your schedule, just email Prof. Peter Murray at pmurray@skidmore.edu, and he would be happy to set up an individual meeting for you with a current philosophy major and/or a member of the Department’s faculty. And please feel free to browse the Philosophy Department homepage for further information and details, and check us out on Facebook and Instagram.
Again, our heartfelt congratulations on being admitted to Skidmore! We look forward to meeting you online soon and to welcoming you to Skidmore in person in the fall!
Sincerely,
The Skidmore Philosophy Department Students and Faculty
