Frances Cody, died June 19, 2006, in Columbia, S.C. She was 80.

Joining the Skidmore community in 1980, Frances divided her administrative service between the Schick Art Gallery and the Summer Six art program. David Miller, art professor emeritus and longtime director of the Schick, called her secretarial skills “impeccable.” Summer Six’s longtime director, Professor Emeritus Regis Brodie, added, “The efficiency and quality of her involvement on the job was mirrored by the beauty in her heart. She was a good, kind person.” Frances retired in 1993.

Outside of work, she was active in her church, community, and volunteer organizations. She instilled a love of music in her two daughters, both of whom are professional musicians.

Her daughters, a son, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and longtime friend Robert Willis survived her.
