Skidmore Retirees

Irene Jean Clute

Irene Jean Esposito Clute, a longtime member of the Dining Services staff, passed away January 9, 2010, at Saratoga Hospital. She was 69.

Born October 18, 1940, in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Esposito and Josephine Palm Fox. Irene lived in Saratoga Springs her entire life and began working at Skidmore in 1973 as short-order cook. She retired in 1997.

Her friend and colleague Linda Myers said that Irene helped to train her when she began at the College. “We shared a lot of fun times working together,” said Linda. “If you ever needed her help, she would know just what to do, where to go, and who to talk to. She was a good friend, as well as a good co-worker.”

Irene’s interests included reading, Facebook, eBay, and collectibles.

In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by a brother, Raymond W. Esposito Sr., and a sister-in-law, Beverly Esposito. Survivors include her husband, Donald G. Clute, of Saratoga Springs; her children, Deborah Elaine (Joseph) Daignault of Corinth and Donald Joseph Clute of Saratoga Springs; brothers Victor E. Esposito and Edward J. (Shirley) Esposito, both of Saratoga Springs, Albert Esposito of Malta, and Anthony (Mary Jane) Esposito of Ohio; sisters Mary E. (Foster) Wendell of Wilton and Carmella (Mel) Woolard of Virginia; sister-in-law Vera L. Esposito of Corinth; three grandchildren and a great-grandson; and longtime friend Gloria Hasbrouck of Saratoga Springs.
