Skidmore Retirees

John Bradley

John Bradley, a longtime member of the Custodial Operations staff, died Feb. 11, 2015. He was 75.

A graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, Jack worked at the Gideon Putnam Hotel and the Saratoga Raceway harness track before joining Skidmore. He was a campus custodian for 22 years, retiring in 2001.

Guy Thomas Hawthorne, a colleague of Jack’s and fellow retiree, remembered how much Jack enjoyed going to New York City to see baseball games. Each man had his own allegiance: “Jack was a Yankee fan, and I was a Mets fan,” said Guy. “We really enjoyed when the two teams played each other.” He and Jack also enjoyed the occasional poker game, and “Jack was the better player,” he admitted. The two traveled to Atlantic City several times.

Along with playing and watching sports—he was also a New York Giants fan— Jack enjoyed attending performances of the orchestra and ballet at SPAC.

Jack was predeceased by his wife, Mary, and son, David. His survivors include daughters Aleah (Kirk) Wendell and Alinda Nichols, both of Saratoga Springs, and Tracy (John) Bateholts of Gansevoort; daughter-in-law Janice Bradley of Saratoga Springs; and three grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Regional Center, 19 Warehouse Row, Albany, N.Y. 12205.
