Betty Chandler

Betty Chandler, a retiree from Skidmore’s housekeeping staff, died October 15, 2017, after a long illness. She was 85.  

Born in Salem, Massachusetts, Betty Wendell went to high school in New Hampshire. She married Earl Chandler in Corinth, and the couple lived in Greenfield Center for 49 years and proudly served as foster parents to 33 children. 

Betty worked at Deco World in Saratoga Springs and Wilton Developmental Center. She joined Skidmore’s housekeeping staff in 1981 and retired in 1994. Outside of work, Betty enjoyed winters in Florida with friend Robert “Cookie” Perrino. She also enjoyed crocheting, horses, her pet birds (and feeding wild birds), and her Pomeranian dogs. 

Her husband Earl died in 2003, her son Christopher, Cookie Perrino and three siblings predeceased Betty. Survivors include daughters Lucinda Chandler-Buck (Cary) of Rutland, Vermont, Sharyl Lang (David) of Ballston Spa, Colleen Peterson (Charlie) of Fonda and Dianne Chandler Lundgren (Douglas) of Lake Luzerne; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brother Foster Wendell (Mary) of Gansevoort; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
