Jane Reisman
Jane Reisman, former associate director of admissions at Skidmore, died in Glens Falls Hospital September 30, 2018.
Jane, who retired from Skidmore in 2017 after serving the College for more than two decades, first joined Admissions as an interviewer in 1992. She was promoted to associate director in 2002 and was responsible for recruitment efforts in Boston and its suburbs, where she built enduring relationships with many schools.
She organized Skidmore’s Accepted Candidate Days program each year and presided over open houses every fall. She served as the Admissions liaison for math and science programs, as well as the Theater Department. For many years, Jane was a member of the selection committee for the Porter-Wachenheim Scholarships in Science and Mathematics.
Colleagues lauded her commitment to Skidmore, her attention to detail, her warm personality and keen sense of humor.
“Jane was a wonderfully committed colleague who cared so much about the young men and women she worked with as they researched, visited and applied to Skidmore,” said Mary Lou Bates, vice president and dean of admissions and financial aid. “The three words that come to mind when I think of Jane are respect, integrity and care. She was a true asset for Admissions and for Skidmore. She was a dear friend and we will miss her.”
Born in Saratoga Springs to Edith and Melvin Weiskopf, Jane graduated from Saratoga Springs High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Connecticut College. Before coming to Skidmore, Jane worked for a publishing house in Boston and in marketing in New York City.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; her children, Alyssa Nason and Michael Reisman; grandchildren Knox and Daisy Nason; her brother, Robert Weiskopf (Sande); brother-in-law, Kenneth (Beth) Reisman; and many nephews and cousins.
