Skidmore Retirees

Patricia Gere

Patricia Gere, a longtime dining services employee, died September 11, 2018, at the Baptist Health and Nursing Center in Scotia, NY. She was 80.

Patricia joined the staff at Skidmore in 1970 as a kitchen and dining room assistant. She began on the old campus and continued in dining services as the College went through major transitions, such as co-education and the move to the new campus, before she retired in 1997.

Chef Jamie Cherry, now supervisor of dining operations, recalls, “I worked with Patti when I was a young man.” Not only was she “always punctual, very dependable,” he says, but “she was such a sweet lady to all, especially the students.” Dining hall cook Ella Burns, who worked with Patricia starting in 1983, says, “Patti didn’t have a bad thing to say about anyone.  She was one of a kind.”

Survivors include sister Linda Reed of Schenectady, with whom Patricia resided before she entered the nursing home in Scotia.
