Skidmore Retirees

Betty Ballou

Betty Ballou, a dedicated member of Skidmore's housekeeping team for more a quarter century, died at home on March 22, 2023. She was 74.

Betty served Skidmore from 1987 until her retirement in 2014. She was among the final members of our staff to work in Moore Hall, Skidmore’s last remaining dormitory in downtown Saratoga Springs. The building was closed in 2006. Betty later worked in McClellan Hall and other buildings on Skidmore’s current campus.

“Betty was dedicated to her work at Skidmore and always enjoyed interreacting with students in the residence halls that she served. An animal lover, there wasn’t a dog on campus that she didn’t stop to greet,” said Environmental Service Technician Bev Pritchard, who worked with her for a number of years.

Born on Dec. 9, 1948, in Corinth, Betty was a longtime resident of Saratoga Springs. She is survived by her brothers, Donald Swift and Ronald Ballou, many family members, and friends.
