Skidmore Retirees

Dora McCormick

Dora McCormick, who always greeted patients and visitors to Skidmore’s Health Services with a smile for 15 years, died on March 8, 2023, at the Wesley Health Care Center. She was 73.

Dora joined Skidmore in 1993 as a secretary and receptionist for both the Counseling Center and Health Services. She moved to fully support Health Services a few years later and retired in 2009.

Colleagues described her as a kind-hearted member of the Health Services team who enjoyed her work and the company of a tightknit group of colleagues.
“She was the warm, welcoming face who greeted students at the front desk. She always enjoyed interreacting with students and liked hearing their stories,” said Associate Director of Health Services Michelle Lapo. “Above all else, she loved to laugh with everyone.”

Born on June 9, 1949, in Saratoga Springs, she graduated from Saratoga Springs High School and went on to earn a nursing degree. In addition to serving Skidmore, Dora worked at Saratoga Hospital in the radiology department.

Dora is survived by her sons, Aaron, Keith (Marylou), and Scott; her grandchildren, Maria, Alicia, Caitlyn, Timothy, Andrew, and Austin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew; her sister, Norma; and her brother, Earl.
