RECORDED LECTURE

Adam Phillips is widely regarded as one of the greatest essayists in the English language. Formerly principal child psychotherapist at Charing Cross Hospital, he is a practicing psychoanalyst in London and a visiting professor in the English department at York University. He is the author of 20 books, the general editor of the “Penguin Modern Classics Freud Reader,” and a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. His books include "Missing Out," "On Flirtation," "Promises, Promises," "On Balance," "In Writing," "Darwin's Worms," and many others. He is also the author of "Becoming Freud: The Making of a Psychoanalyst," a volume in the “Jewish Lives” series published by Yale University Press in 2014. He is a frequent contributor to The London Review of Books and Skidmore’s quarterly magazine Salmagundi.
