Boston-Based College for Social Innovation Launches New Pilot Program With Skidmore
Do you envision yourself in a social impact career?
Would you love to be in Boston?
What if you could gain an internship focusing on your interests, plus receive a mentor to guide you through your experience?
The College for Social Innovation has embarked on a new, exciting pilot program with Skidmore for fall 2020. Thanks to a generous donor, a pell-eligible Skidmore student will be selected to participate in an all expenses-paid (full tuition and housing!), transformative 15-week program that gives undergraduate students the opportunity to spend a semester in Boston. The fellowship includes hands-on learning through well-supported internships in the social sector.
Open to all majors, Semester in the City works with students to place them in an internship aligned with their interests, be it criminal justice reform, education, gender equality, environmental sustainability, or beyond. While every placement will be a little different, each Fellow will have a dedicated mentor to help them thrive. In addition, as a Social Innovation Fellow, students will also take two courses, taught by the College for Social Innovation staff. Curriculum focuses on social innovation and the social impact sector.
A sample of internship sites include:
- Anti-Defamation League
- Boston Ballet
- Boys & Girls Club of Boston
- Boston Public Health Commission
- Center to Support Immigrant Organizing
- Edward M. Kennedy Institute
- Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Advancement
- Strong Women, Strong Girls, Inc.
