Skidmore College
Social Work Department

Congratulations Class of 2024!

Skidmore College's Social Work Department has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education since 1983.

Our major has two primary objectives: to prepare students for beginning-level generalist social work practice and to prepare students for graduate study in social work. The social work curriculum integrates knowledge of human behavior, social welfare policy, and research with the values and skills of the social work profession.

Quick Facts:

  • About 25% of social work majors receive funded internship awards during their Skidmore career.

  • Our majors are four times more likely to attend graduate programs immediately after graduation than the average Skidmore student.

  • Our department boasts some of the highest rates of students studying off campus. Recently, over 75% of social work majors have studied off campus in Denmark, Thailand, Spain, Italy, and England, and in other states within the U.S.
