What will you learn?

Our students study accounting, marketing, finance, strategy, and other functional areas of business. However, we go way beyond these foundations by embedding our business curriculum in areas such as technology, politics, economics, environment, creativity, global awareness, and ethics. Many of our students also choose to pursue double majors or major-minor combinations to enhance their career outcomes.

Skidmore’s popular introductory-level business course, MB 107, is an unforgettable experience. Mentored by upper-level student coaches and faculty, students develop detailed business plans for actual companies and present them to working executives. Yes, many of our students combine the management and business major with another major or minor. Common pairings include psychology, English, economics, mathematics and statistics, computer science, and more.

No, we do not offer formal concentrations. Instead, students receive well-rounded training across multiple business disciplines. However, you can tailor your studies toward a specific area (e.g., marketing, accounting) by choosing electives that deepen your knowledge in that field.

Yes, many of our majors study abroad. We encourage you to consult with the Off-Campus Study & Exchanges Office to explore available options. Many programs offer courses that can count toward our major or minor requirements.

We offer a variety of student-run clubs, such as Women in Business and the Investment Club. In addition, the department hosts lectures, workshops, and networking events throughout the year.
