About Zankel
Arthur Zankel Music Center offers the artistic caliber and range of a leading performance venue in an intimate, mission-driven setting on the Skidmore College campus in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Big names. Intimate scale.
The 600-seat Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall combines finely tuned acoustics with an
intimate scale. Its stage has welcomed Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai and Pulitzer-Prize
winner Caroline Shaw; musicians Jon Batiste, Emanuel Ax, Ani DiFranco; Sweet Honey
in the Rock; Indigo Girls; and many others.
For the next generation
Zankel is also home to Skidmore’s Music Department and programs including the Skidmore Jazz Institute. Students perform alongside visiting artists and gain practical experience in recording, sound, lighting, livestreaming, stage management, marketing, ticketing, and audience services.
The Arthur Zankel legacy
Arthur Zankel was a Skidmore College trustee, parent, philanthropist, and longtime supporter of the arts and education. His contributions to Skidmore supported scholarships, academic programs, and opportunities that connected learning with public life. The center bearing his name carries that spirit forward by opening exceptional musical experiences to the College and the wider region.
