Getting started
Welcome to Skidmore! A few important tasks will help you get started and set you up for a smooth transition to campus. Complete the steps below as soon as possible, and keep an eye on upcoming deadlines throughout the summer. Updated June 3, 2026.Once you've enrolled, you will receive an email from Admissions with your Skidmore Account creation information and instructions to set up your Skidmore Account. The username and password you create through this process will be your universal login information for your Skidmore Account and most Skidmore apps.
If you did not receive instructions, please email the Admissions Office.
By setting up your Skidmore Account, you set up your Skidmore email. It is your username plus @skidmore.edu and the password you created. Access your email through the Microsoft Outlook Tile on your Skidmore Account home screen.
Enroll in online tuition E-Bill and add/authorize all users who will need access to your billing statement.

It is both New York State law and Skidmore College policy that fully completed health and immunization records must be filed prior to class attendance or participation in Pre-Orientation programs, and/or varsity athletics.
To submit required immunization and health forms, log into your Skidmore Account, and then go to your MyWellness tile. If your last physical was prior to August 2024, please make a doctor’s appointment now to ensure completion of required health forms by the July 15 deadline.
Please note: athletes have additional health requirements, which include a physical within the last 6 months
The QR will provide important information about which level of course is most appropriate for you given your QR skills. The assessment typically takes 1.5–2 hours. You can access it through the FYE Checklist.
Note: If you submitted test scores and scored 650 or higher on the Math SAT or 28 or higher on the Math ACT, you do not need to take the diagnostic. (You will receive an email from Professor Tiwari on May 5 confirming your placement). If your score was in this range, but you did not send them to Skidmore, please go to the FYE Checklist for information about how to submit your scores.
Students interested in applying for the Gardenside Sustainability Community must complete their application by May 22.

F-1 visa holders, please sign up. U.S. citizens living abroad, please contact The Learning Commons for an invitation.
A Skidmore faculty member will email you in early June to schedule a virtual meeting or phone call to discuss your educational hopes and plans, as well as your fall semester course options. If you are not available in June, please contact the Office of Academic Advising at advising@skidmore.edu.

Questionnaire opens June 1 and is due June 19.
To access the housing questionnaire, log in to your Skidmore Account and go to the Residential Life Housing tile.
You will be assigned a room and roommate(s) based on the preferences indicated in your questionnaire. Skidmore does not assign rooms or roommates based on race, religion, or national origin. All residence halls are smoke- and substance-free.

Important: Housing assignments will be released by the end of the day on July 22. You must submit your Health Forms by the deadline to receive your housing assignment.

Pre-Orientation programs are a great way to establish new friendships, get to know peer advisors, meet faculty and staff, and have fun! Additional fees apply. Need-based scholarships are available.
First-year students will register themselves for courses online after they have met with their Summer Advisor.
Course registration opens at 8:30 a.m. ET on your assigned registration date, based on the first letter of your last name.
Although the deadline to secure a full-time course schedule is July 10, our goal is for you to achieve this by June 30 because course availability becomes more limited the longer you wait. You can continue to make changes to your course schedule through the add/drop period at the start of the Fall 2026 semester.

Your copy will arrive in late June via mail (international students will receive books during International Pre-Orientation). All first-year students are expected to read and contemplate the summer reading.
July
Skidmore IDs are more than just photo IDs. They are door keys, meal tickets, purchase cards, and more. You need to submit a photo in advance so you can pick up your ID when you arrive at Skidmore this fall; otherwise, you will face delays.
Skidmore requires that all students have health insurance, and annually you must go through an enrollment/waiver process to confirm coverage. Please note that this process is separate from any documentation students may have submitted to Health Services or Athletics. The Bursar’s Office will mail instructions to your home.
You have until August 1 to respond.

Review and update your contact information, designate emergency contacts, set communication preferences for parents/guardians or other contacts, make your academic and financial information release selections, and acknowledge Skidmore’s photo and video policy. You can access the form through your FYE Checklist.
August
This is also the last day to enroll in the installment payment plan (SCIP).
Individual program dates will vary.
Registration is done on a rolling basis starting August 5.
To register a vehicle, log into your Skidmore Account and go to the Ticketrak Parking tile.
Your arrival date will be your move-in date. Early orientation schedules and programming vary, but all students (with the exception of London) will participate in New Student Orientation September 6–11.
- Fall athletes: Arrival varies by team; please contact your coach
- FYE London students: August 27–August 31, in London
- International students: August 31–September 2 (by invitation)
Students participating in the Opportunity Program’s Academic Institute will arrive in late June.
Skidmore mailbox assignments should be available at the same time as housing assignments.
September
Your arrival date will be your move-in date. For those registered for Pre-Orientation, you will move in on September. 3. All remaining new students will move in on September 6.
Details and instructions will be sent in August as part of the FYI from FYE newsletter.
Information on Financial Aid and Billing
- Enroll in online tuition E-Bill and add/authorize all users who will need access to your billing statement.
- Enroll in or waive the Health Insurance Plan by August 1. Skidmore requires that all students be covered by health insurance. Forms will be available by July 1.
- Sign up for SCIP enrollment by August 15 (optional). By signing up for the installment plan, you can spread each semester’s costs over four equal monthly installments.
- Pay fall semester bill by August 15. Fall bills will be available in July.
- Enroll in Tuition Stabilization Plan (TSP) Agreement by September 3 (optional). With a TSP agreement, you may prepay tuition charges, thus guaranteeing against future increases, for two, three, or four years of full-time academic study.
