On-campus independence
Skidmore’s apartment communities give juniors and seniors more privacy and more responsibility for daily life without moving away from campus. Every apartment has private bedrooms, a furnished shared living space, a full kitchen, and bathroom facilities, with laundry available within each building.
Apartment residents are not required to purchase a meal plan. Students can cook in their apartment, choose a meal plan, or combine the two

Who lives in the apartments?
Skidmore apartments are available to juniors and seniors. Selection is competitive, with priority based on class year and the housing selection process, so apartment residents are primarily seniors and some juniors.
All apartments are gender-inclusive, so students may choose housemates regardless of sex, gender, or gender identity. Students who need disability-related housing accommodations can work with Accessibility Services in The Learning Commons to identify an appropriate housing option.
More responsibility
Apartment living means managing more of everyday household life yourself. Residents cook, clean their bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and shared living spaces, take out their own trash, and coordinate household responsibilities with their housemates.
Housekeeping staff maintain the shared laundry rooms in apartment buildings but do not clean individual apartments.
Support and safety in the apartments
More independence doesn’t mean students are on their own. Each apartment area is supervised by an Area Coordinator (AC), and each neighborhood is supported by a Community Assistant (CA) who helps students connect, navigate concerns, and find campus resources. Campus Safety is available 24/7.
Students use their Skidmore ID card to enter the apartment where they live. Private bedrooms remain locked, and only the student assigned to each bedroom has access.
