Summer Sessions
COVID-19 UPDATE: On April 13, the College announced its decision to cancel Summer Session 1 and Summer Session 2 courses for 2020. The courses will not be offered online. Summer internships-for-credit and independent studies remain as options for Skidmore students for this summer and may be arranged through the normal processes detailed here.

Summer Course Auditor Instructions:

1. Select course(s).

Auditors are permitted to audit a maximum of two courses per summer session. Select courses using the online master schedule and the summer sessions course descriptions. Please note that summer studio art courses and workshops are not available to auditors. If you wish to participate in a non-credit studio art workshop, you must apply as a visiting student using the visiting student application.

2. Request instructor’s permission via email.

Summer Session I registration period for auditors: May 11–22, 2020
Auditor Application Session 1 (Available May 11, 2020)

Summer Session II registration period for auditors: June 15–26, 2020
Auditor Application Session II (Available June 15, 2020)


Application fee

  • $60 (non-refundable) via credit card on the online auditor application, per session

Course fee

  • $250 per course: if you are younger than 55 years old
  • $25 per course: alumni and 55 years or older
  • Athletic facilities fee (optional): $100 per session

Please note: Students exclusively auditing courses do not have access to supplemental services such as the Health Center, Counseling Services, Student Academic Services, departmental tutoring, etc. Use of the sports center is by special fee only.

Students are not permitted to audit studio art courses, courses with limited seating or courses in which the instructor does not permit auditing.

theSpring: To obtain access to your online course materials, you will need to request/provision your Skidmore account.  This process will generate your Skidmore username and password, which you will need in order to login to theSpring and other computing resources. If you encounter problems with this process, please contact the IT Help Desk in the Library ( or 518-580-5900).
