Kim Roy '80 named to academy of women leaders

Kim Roy ’80, Skidmore parent and alumna trustee for the College’s Board of Trustees and Alumni Association Board of Directors, was selected by the YWCA of the City of New York as an inductee into the organization’s 39th Annual Academy of Women Leaders at a February 15th luncheon held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Manhattan.  Roy, who is group president of Lauren Womenswear for the Ralph Lauren Corporation, was recognized for her remarkable career in the fashion industry as well as her commitment to leadership both in and beyond the business world.

At Ralph Lauren, Roy has been responsible for a portfolio of brands that include Lauren, Ralph Lauren Blue Label Wholesale, Chaps, and Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply since October 2010.  She was previously president of Lauren Brands from June 2003 to October 2010. 

According to the YMCA’s Academy of Women Leaders Class of 2012/2013 Web site, Roy was honored for her passion for the Lauren brand and unwavering commitment to its success. “Kim partners with all internal constituents as well as retail accounts, balancing Ralph Lauren’s creative vision with the requirements of the business and the needs of the consumer.”  She was also recognized as a consummate leader who is dedicated to investing in her team and promoting talent, from interns and executive trainees to senior leaders.

Previously, Roy served as president of Ann Taylor Stores, Inc., and in senior retail and merchandizing positions for Liz Claiborne, Inc., Associated Merchandising Corporation, and Abraham & Straus.

Roy was a member of the Weight Watchers International Board of Directors and its Audit Committee.  She is currently alumna trustee on Skidmore’s Board of Trustees and Alumni Association Board of Directors, where she serves on the Academic Affairs, Advancement, Strategic Planning, and Student Life committees.  She and her family, which includes husband Chris and children Katharine Tofalli ’10, and Christopher Tofalli ’13, have been sponsors of the Student Sponsor Partners program in New York. They reside in Westchester.
