We have been informed by Saratoga Springs Police that the man suspected of making threats yesterday to harm a Skidmore College student has been apprehended. We have resumed normal operations at the College. We very much appreciate the work of Saratoga Springs Police and other agencies that assisted. Because this is a criminal matter, Saratoga Springs Police are in the best position to provide further information.

We have resumed normal operations at the College. Saratoga Springs Police have determined that the individual who threatened a Skidmore student yesterday is not in the area. Police and Campus Safety are continuing to monitor the situation and to maintain a presence on campus. Students and employees are advised to be cautious and to contact Campus Safety at 580-5567 or Saratoga Springs Police at 584-1800 if they have more information.

Saratoga Springs Police have determined that the individual who threatened a Skidmore student earlier is not in the area. However, the College is maintaining cautionary measures until we have more definitive information. All buildings will remain locked for the time being and students are advised to continue to be cautious. Police and Campus Safety will continue frequent patrolling of the campus until this matter is resolved. We will update the community prior to regular business hours.

Saratoga Springs Police are continuing to search for an individual off-campus who earlier today made what they consider to be a credible threat against a Skidmore student. The subject, who may be armed, has been identified and police are following leads in an attempt to apprehend him prior to his arrival on campus. He is a 49-year-old white male, balding, 6-feet-one-inch tall. If you see anyone matching this description, please call Saratoga Springs Police at 584-1800 or Campus Safety at 580-5567.

Saratoga Springs Police are maintaining a strong presence on campus,  monitoring traffic at the campus’s entrances. In the interest of safety, the campus is closed with officers screening incoming and out-going vehicles and pedestrians. Employees and students are being permitted to leave, but they are being advised they may not be able to return until this situation is resolved.
