Can Skidmore repeat as winner of the SteerHead Trophy for team participation in the 2013 Bikeatoga “Bike-to-Work Day” Challenge?

The answer is yes, if community members register and join the challenge, scheduled for Friday, May 17, rain or shine. May is Bike-to- Work Month. Bikeatoga helps people recognize the benefits of bicycle transportation by sponsoring the Bike-to-Work challenge. Teams will compete for the GearHead, SteerHead, and Chrome Crank trophies. Trophies are awarded for organizations with the most participants, the highest percentage participation, and the individual longest commute. Last year Skidmore won with 34 team members.

A complimentary breakfast will be served at the Saratoga Arts Center (corner of Broadway and Spring Street) from 6:30 to 9 a.m. that Friday, and an after-work party will begin at 5 p.m. at Spa City Bicycleworks, 97 Beekman St. All participants will receive a coupon for a free Stewart’s ice cream cone.

Skidmore team members are invited to participate in a group ride from the Arts Center to the campus, beginning at 8 a.m. At 8:30 a.m., team members will be photographed outside of the Arthur Zankel Music Center. People who live too far away to bike the entire distance to work are welcome to drive to town and park, then bike onto campus.

As of May 10, there were 33 people registered for the Skidmore team but the Ballston Spa School District is positioned to gain on Skidmore. All interested Skidmore community members are welcome. To register, please click here:
