Skidmore’s residence halls put students within a short walk of classes, dining, activities, friends, and campus resources. Students from all class years live in the halls, with single, double, and triple rooms available across campus.
Seven residence halls offer suite-style living, where several rooms share a bathroom. Wiecking Hall has a traditional corridor-style layout with shared hall bathrooms. Every residence hall has lounges, study spaces, free laundry, kitchenettes, and support from Resident Assistants (RAs) and Area Coordinators (ACs).

Who lives in the residence halls?
Students from all class years live in Skidmore’s residence halls. First-year students are assigned rooms and roommates, while returning students select housing through the housing selection process. First-year students may share a suite or hallway with older students, but their roommates are other first-year students.
Students who need disability-related housing accommodations can work with Accessibility Services in The Learning Commons to identify an appropriate option. Accessibility features vary by residence hall.
More alike than different
There isn’t one “best” residence hall at Skidmore. The halls are clustered in the North and South quads and share many of the same room furnishings, amenities, and residential experience.
The differences are mostly practical: location within campus, room and bathroom layout, air conditioning in some buildings, Special Interest Communities, and a few building-specific spaces and amenities. Individual residence hall pages include room and closet dimensions, furnishings, photos, and amenity details so you can compare the specifics.
What are the residence hall bathrooms like?
Seven residence halls use suite-style bathrooms, where several rooms share a bathroom. Wiecking Hall uses a traditional corridor-style layout with shared hall bathrooms.
Residence hall bathrooms are cleaned regularly by housekeeping staff and stocked with toilet paper and hand soap. Students carry toiletries in and out so bathrooms remain clear for cleaning.
Support and safety in the residence halls
Every residence hall has Resident Assistants who live alongside students and Area Coordinators who oversee the residential community. RAs help students connect with one another, navigate roommate and community concerns, understand expectations, and find the right campus resource when they need support.
An RA is on call in each residence hall from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., and Campus Safety is available 24/7. Students use their Skidmore ID card to enter the residence hall where they live, and individual bedrooms remain secured.
