Accessing College Resources

The following resources and services are currently available to the Skidmore community. Updates and additions to this list will be posted regularly. Please submit updates to this list by email. Skidmore College continues to provide campuswide updates here.

 

Academic Advising

At this time, the Office of Academic Advising is best able to serve students, faculty and parents through phone or Zoom meetings. Appointments can be scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Same-day appointments are often available. Accounts Payable

Please send all documentation electronically through Oracle Cloud. Email Accounts Payable if you have any cash deposits.

 

Career Development Center

The Career Development Center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and available to support all students and alumni.  Please schedule your in-person or virtual appointments via Handshake, or contact the front desk at 518-580-5790 or cdc@skidmore.edu.  Starting in September, students will also be able to receive a resume review by submitting their documents to careercorps@skidmore.edu.

 

Center for Leadership, Teaching, and Learning

Scholarly and Creative Endeavors Work Groups (SCE) for employees are taking on a new format this semester. Three groups will be led virtually via Zoom in fall 2021, starting the week of Sept. 13. Community Service

The Office of Community Service Programs continues to share ways to give back. Virtual office hours will be held every Monday from 2 to 2:30 p.m. To schedule an individual appointment, email Michelle Hubbs and she will send you a meeting request.

 

Employee Assistance Program

Employees seeking counseling services may make use of the Employee Assistance Program.

 

Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Office is open for regular business hours and staff are available, by email and by phone at 518-580-5750, and via Zoom by appointment.

 

First-Year Experience

The First-Year Experience office is working remotely. Email is the best way to contact staff, but you can also call 518-580-8111 and leave a voicemail.

 

Health Services and the Counseling Center

Health Services and the Counseling Center are available to support students. Contact staff by phone or email to develop an individualized plan for care. If you have the Skidmore Health Insurance, you can also access telemedicine, teletherapy and virtual ER visits, no matter where you are located. Your student plan links you to a national network of providers and we can help you access care in your community.

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, call the Counseling Center main number, 518-580-5555, and follow the prompts to be connected with immediate assistance. Emergency assistance is available to all Skidmore students, no matter where you are located, 24/7.

 

Human Resources/Payroll

Human Resources continues to update Faculty/Staff FAQs on a regular basis, including employee testing questions. The HR team is available by phone 518-580-5800 or email.

Non-exempt employees with questions concerning time entry should contact Joan Rivers in Payroll.

 

Information Technology

The IT Help Desk is now offering Live Chat Support. The chat function can be accessed by clicking the Live Support button on the left side of the IT Help Desk webpage. It will be green when support is available.

Students should continue to submit IT support requests by emailing the Help Desk or calling 518-580-5900 from 8:30 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Faculty should send requests to the Faculty Help Desk to expedite responses. In your email, include a cellphone or landline number so someone from IT can contact you. Calling the Help Desk phone line will not be your quickest means of support.

Staff should continue to submit IT support requests by emailing the Help Desk or calling 518-580-5900 from 8:30 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Off-Campus Study & Exchanges

OCSE staff are available for appointments Monday to Friday from 9 am – 12 pm and 1 – 4 pm. Students can schedule an appointment here and can indicate whether they prefer an in-person meeting in Starbuck 202 or via Zoom. Follow @globalskidmore on Instagram to watch for upcoming events and info sessions.

 

Opportunity Program

The Opportunity Program remains available to offer support to all OP students, on campus and off. Staff are working remotely until further notice. Staff will continue to offer advising, academic and social support, and OP students should feel encouraged to reach out to staff by email and/or schedule video conferencing for any needs that arise.

 

Post Office

The Post Office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Skidmore IDs and departmental purchasing cards are the only form of payment accepted. For more information, email the Skidmore Post Office.

 

Print Services

Print Services is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Skidmore IDs and departmental purchasing cards are the only form of payment accepted. If you are experiencing a service issue or have a printing question, contact Jim Pfoh.

 

Purchasing

The Purchasing Office is fully operational and accessible by emailing Anne Petruzzelli or Carol Schnitzer or leaving a voicemail at 518-580-5848 or 518-580-5849. Both Petruzzelli and Schnitzer are available by appointment.

 

Registrar’s Office

The Registrar’s Office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and available to support students. Staff are working on campus so feel free to stop by the office in Starbuck Center if you have any questions or need to drop off forms.  They can also be reached by emailing registrar@skidmore.edu or calling 518-580-5710.

 

RELIGIOUS AND SPIRITUAL LIFE

The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (ORSL) is available as a resource for Skidmore College students, staff, faculty, and community regardless of religious or spiritual beliefs or background. Visit the ORSL webpage for updated schedules and contact information. New and returning students can also fill out an interest form to be added to relevant mailing lists or to ask about resources and programs. As of August 2021 the ORSL and all of the Campus Life & Engagement staff will be in new space in Case Center (Case 207) with additional hours at Wilson Chapel (by the North Woods, across the road from Tisch and Palamountain). The office can also be reached at orsl@skidmore.edu.

 

Residential Life

The Office of Residential Life is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and available to support students. Staff are working on campus and remotely and can be reached by calling 518-580-5765 or by email.

Scribner Library

Scribner Library will be open during the summer, Monday - Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All floors of the library are open for browsing, printing, and studying. For research help visit the Ask Us page. Visit our Access Information page for additional information about the building, resources, and help.

 

SKIDMORE SHOP

The Skidmore Shop is your one-stop shop for all of your student’s college needs from supplies for art, school, cleaning, dorm living, and more.  The Shop is an Apple Authorized Campus Store where you can shop Apple products at education pricing check out our selection as well as deals on devices. Special Programs

The Office of Special Programs staff are working on-campus in Pine Cottage during normal operating hours in accordance with the College’s Return to Campus Policy. Email is the easiest way to contact staff. Contact information for staff is on the Special Programs website.

 

Sponsored Research

The Office of Sponsored Research staff are working on-campus during normal operating hours in accordance with the College’s Return to Campus Policy. Email is the best way to contact staff. Contact information for staff can be found at the bottom of the Sponsored Research webpage.

 

Student Academic Services

Student Academic Services (SAS) makes professional one-on-one academic support available to all Skidmore students. SAS serves students interested in strengthening their academic performance and offers assistance in developing a wide range of academic skills and practices. Academic counselors are available by appointment

 

Sustainability Office

Our office manages “BikeMore” the free campus bikeshare, stewards the 155 acres of hardwood forest on campus, manages the Community Garden, and collaborates across the college on various campus sustainability projects. Visit our Sustainability website for FAQs and more information about our programs. Questions and concerns are welcomed via email to sustainability@skidmore.edu. Our office, located in the first floor of Wiecking Hall, is open with limited staff M-F 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for drop ins.

 

Tang Teaching Museum

The Tang Teaching Museum will be open during the fall semester starting September 9 on Thursdays from noon to 9 p.m. and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. The Museum is also open for scholarly research and class visits by appointment during regular business hours.

Faculty members, staff, and students interested in exhibitions may contact Rachel Seligman, assistant director for curatorial affairs. Those interested in collections may contact Kara Jefts, collections registrar. Please make your appointment at least 24 hours in advance of your visit. 

On view this fall are “Ellsworth Kelly: Postcards”,   “Opener 33: Sarah Cain — Enter the Center”, “Elevator Music 41: Laura Ortman—Dust Dives Alive”, “Un-Representation”, and the online exhibition “Look After Each Other: Intimacy and Community.”

Williamson Sports Center

Williamson Sports Center is open. Hours are 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; and noon-6 p.m. Sunday.

 

Writing Center

At the Philip Boshoff Writing Center at Skidmore, trained student tutors offer one-on-one consultations for student writers at every stage of the writing process, from assignment sheet to final revisions. We want to make better writers, not just better writing; rather than editing, we follow the writer's lead to meet their own goals for their project.

This semester, we will meet with students both in person (in LIB 440) and online. We are open every day. 

Sunday - Thursday: 12 noon - 10 p.m.
Friday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Saturday: 12 noon - 4 p.m.
