Amanda Peckler '20

My name is Amanda Peckler and I am a Junior from Rockland County, NY. I'm a self-determined Documentary Media Studies major and Intergroup Relations minor. I am really passionate about using media-making as a tool for social justice, community-building and collective healing. Since the Fall of 2017, I've been a co-founder, co-manager, and producer of Pass the Mic; the student-run platform and community serving people of color, people with disabilities, international, immigrant, refugee, lgbtq+ and economically disadvantaged communities. Through our radio show (now on its third season!) which airs every Friday from 5-6 pm on WSPN and our Soundcloud (@passthemicskid), we function as a platform that allows members of these target communities to share their unfiltered experiences.

In addition, I work as a Virtual Reality Assistant for Academic Technologies and spend a lot of my time, both as a student and worker within the John B. Moore Documentary Studies Collaborative. Alongside my interests surrounding media production, interactive technology, and social justice, I am a proud Opportunity Program scholar and have served on the OP Student Advisory Council as the Class of 2020 representative.

And lastly, I am the harpist currently playing with the Skidmore Klezmer Ensemble.
