April and May Collaborations and Events in the CLTL

A Request from the CLTL

Several faculty have asked for examples of mid-semester student evaluations. If you have created a template that you are willing to share, it would be greatly appreciated. I will collect and link them to the resources page on the CLTL’s website. Please send them to bastress@skidmore.edu, and thank you in advance.

New Faculty Learning Community
Date: Friday, April 22, 2016
Time: 4–5:15 p.m.
Location: Weller Room (212 Library)

An end of the year celebration!

Supporting Students with Disabilities
Date: Tuesday, April 26, 2016
Time: 4–5 p.m.
Location: Weller Room

Meg Hegener, coordinator for Student Access Services, and Jamin Totino, director of Student Academic Services, will facilitate a conversation about how to support students with disabilities. Meg and Jamin will offer a review of ADA and Section 504 compliance, share some data regarding our student population, and answer questions we may have.

Media Workshop
Date: Wednesday, May 11, 2016
Time: 1–3 p.m.
Location: Weller Room

The CLTL is very pleased to collaborate with MDOCS on this workshop. Nicky Tavares and Adam Tinkle will discuss the design and delivery of media-rich assignments that get students experimenting, but that steer clear of technical hurdles that may derail your semester. Learn from faculty who have taken the plunge as we share assignment strategies and lessons learned, including examples from across the disciplines! Please RSVP to ntavares@skidmore.edu or atinkle@skidmore.edu if you would like to attend or if you have questions about this workshop.

Time Project Planning Meeting
Date: Tuesday, May 17, 2016
Time: 10–11 a.m.
Location: Weller Room

If you are interested in joining a cluster for spring 2017’s Time Project, please join us for this planning meeting. We are also looking for a common reading regarding “time.” If you have suggestions, please send them to bastress@skidmore.edu

Summer Writing Group
Date: Wednesdays, June–August

Mike Lopez, Math Department, will facilitate the summer writing group. Mark your calendars for Wednesdays at noon if you would like to join the group. Mike and I will send out a reminder later in May.

Finally, on behalf of the CLTL I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the Center’s success this year. Your programs, talks, classes, presentations, workshops, and proposals for new courses have benefited the entire Skidmore community in wonderful ways. Thank you all for your generosity.

Have a great summer, Erica
