Student employees
Before you start your on-campus job, take a minute to review the key policies, deadlines, and login steps. From annual earnings limits to first-year work assignments, we’ve outlined everything you need to stay compliant — and get paid on time. When you're ready, use the Student Employment Dashboard (via Okta) to search for openings, track applications, complete forms, and manage your timesheet.
Apply for a job:
Browse available positions and apply online through Oracle. Once hired, you must complete your I-9 form within three days and present original ID documents in person at the Financial Aid Office, as required by federal law. Have a question about a specific job? Reach out directly to the contact listed in the posting.
Key policies:
- The maximum total earnings during the Academic year for students is $4,000.
- F-1 Visa holders may not exceed 20 hours of total employment per week while school is in session. Although, during the Fall and Spring semesters all students must follow the max. earnings policy of $4,000 per Academic Year.
- It is College policy that all incoming first-year students work within Dining Services. An email will be sent to all students who are awarded work-study at the end of June or early July. The email will inform the students of the required employment forms, a Dining Services questionnaire, and other employment information.

Student supervisors
At Skidmore, student employment is more than a job — it’s a hands-on opportunity for students to support the campus community while building valuable academic and professional skills. For supervisors and staff, effective student employment means clear deadlines, accurate documentation, and strong guidance aligned with college and federal standards.
Please review the policies and dates for students above and also be aware of the following:
- Managing positions: Use the Student Employment Dashboard (Oracle) via Okta to create or update job postings, hire student workers, and approve timesheets.
- Payroll eligibility: Students must complete all required federal and state employment forms in Oracle via Okta to be added to payroll.
- I-9 requirement: The I-9 form must be completed within three days of a student’s hire date. This is a federal requirement. If it remains incomplete, the student and their supervisor will be notified by email and the student must stop working until the form is submitted.
Resources
Student workers are paid biweekly according to a published payroll calendar—timesheets are due each second Friday at 11:59 p.m. (student) and by 5 p.m. (supervisors), and pay is issued the following Friday.
Student employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked, which can be used for illnesses, medical appointments, mental health needs, or safe‑leave purposes — you just need to notify your supervisor before your shift and record the time in Oracle via your timecard.
