SCOOP Survival Skills (Tenting)

If you were alone, lost in the woods, could you survive? This program will teach you basic wilderness survival skills with qualified survivalist peer leaders. We will be in the wilderness on Camp Fowler's 245 acres where many other programs are based. In addition to survival skills, this program will also answer all of your Skidmore-related questions as well as icebreakers and team-building experiences to make new connections.

You will learn how to build a primitive shelter, make fire, traps, and tools, purify water, tie knots, learn wilderness first aid, and more! All meals will be provided. Don't worry this is just a super fun way to learn about Skidmore, Wilderness Skills and meet some cool first-years as well as your upperclass peer leaders!! You will need basic gear such as a backpack and hiking boots; see more details on the packing list. No outdoor experience is required.
