Expectations for Students during the COVID-19 Pandemic
In the interest of protecting the Skidmore College community, the following guidelines have been developed. These guidelines are consistent with state and federal guidelines, and follow the advice of leading health organizations.
All students are expected to comply with these guidelines. Reports of behavior that is inconsistent with these guidelines may be adjudicated through the student conduct process as alleged violations of the Failure to Comply policy in the Code of Social Conduct.
Guidelines
- Students may not host any non-Skidmore guests anywhere on campus property at any time.
- Students residing in on-campus housing may not host any guests in their individual residential space for any period of time. This includes other Skidmore students who do not reside in the same residential space.
- Students are expected to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance related to social distancing at all times. Further, students are required to comply with all federal, state, and local guidance related to the pandemic.
- Students are expected to follow the guidelines provided by Skidmore College
- At the time of the writing of this document, the following executive order is in effect in New York State and all students are required to comply with its contents: “Effective at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2020 any individual who is over age two and able to medically tolerate face-covering shall be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when in a public place and unable to maintain, or when not maintaining, social distance.” For the purposes of this order, any Skidmore College property outside of a student’s residential assignment is considered a “public place.” (Please check this page regularly for updates related to this executive order.)
- Changes in federal and state guidelines may result in changes to College policies. All changes will be communicated to students via e-mail to their Skidmore College e-mail account. Students are expected to review these changes as they occur and comply with all new regulations.
- Gatherings of more than X people are prohibited on campus property.
- Students are expected to wash their hands regularly with soap and water, especially when entering a new space, room, or building on campus.
