Fall 2020 Hotel Housing

Due to the unprecedented circumstances we are all facing this year, the College has secured rooms in a nearby national hotel chain. While we recognize this may not have been the housing students imagined, there are many appealing aspects and amenities. Hotel selection will be added as an additional process within our larger Housing Selection Process.

Applications for Hotel Housing will be available beginning on July 10 and due by 11:59 PM EST on July 22.

Students will be offered placements by July 24th and must decline no later than July 26th.

Process

  • Submission/updating of emergency contacts and evacuation locations
  • Most students will have saved information for both, but should update them yearly
  • Complete the Hotel Application

  • After the application closes, the Office of Residential Life will review all applications and assign rooms by lottery numbers
  • Tentative assignments will be sent to students by July 24
  • Students wishing to decline, must reply by July 26 to do so

Eligibility

Students in the Classes of 2021, 2022, and 2023 (including Transfer students) are eligible for hotel housing.

First Year students are not eligible.

Amenities

Single and Double Rooms

Both single and double rooms will be available for students. These rooms are spacious and have each has a private bathroom

Queen Sized Bed, Minimum

The smallest bed size in any of the rooms is a Queen. As students know, this is larger than what is offered in both the On Campus Apartments, and the Residence Halls.

Room Amenities

All rooms come equipped with a mini fridge and microwave, as well as a good-sized television with free access to cable and internet. All rooms are also air conditioned and will have housekeeping visits once per week.

Hotel Amenities

The hotel offers multiple small on-site food service areas, where students may purchase food or snacks. There will be conference rooms set aside for student use for studying. There is also a pool and fitness center, which students may access (State mandates permitting). There is also a small business center where students may print or use computers.

Community Feel

Skidmore students will be placed on floors together, without any other hotel guests. Students will also have 1 Resident Assistant per floor available to assist them

Getting to Campus

A dedicated shuttle bus will be available to students living in the hotel to take them to and from campus. The hotel is also just a short walk from the CDTA bus route, which travels to campus, downtown, and the mall.

Common Questions

Our hope is to have enough interested students to fill the designated spaces in the hotel. However, if at the end of Residence Hall Selection we have more students than we can accommodate on campus, they will be assigned housing at the hotel.

While the hotel has been kind enough to provide us with complete floors for our students, it is still a hotel with guests.

Just like living in a residence hall or apartment, students will be expected to be respectful of their neighbors and abide by all policies. Some differences include that students will not be able to hang anything on the walls of the hotel.

Doubles and singles in the hotel will be billed at the same rate as residence hall doubles and singles. Students in the hotel will also be on the same Unlimited Meal plan as students in the residence halls.

We always advise students to consult with Financial Aid regarding how costs will impact their unique aid packages.
