Towards Equity, Inclusion and Belonging in Departmental Climate with Prof. Rigoberto Hernandez, Gompf Family Professor of Chemistry at Johns Hopkins University

- Description: The Open Collaborative in Diversity Equity (OXIDE) is a partnership with the department heads of research-active chemistry departments, social scientists and other key stakeholders. The collaborative is aimed at institutional reform to lower inequitable barriers hindering the success of faculty from diverse groups. This conversation explores OXIDE's approaches to increase awareness of effective policies and practices that decrease inequitable barriers and improve the diversity climate in research-active chemistry departments and how these findings can inform the intentional management of inclusive excellence in academia broadly.

- Description: Come learn from folks who have a successful record of securing and administering grants across divisions and disciplines: Mary Hoehn (Director, Office of Sponsored Research), Beau Breslin (Political Science), Juan Navea (Chemistry), and Denise Smith (Health and Human Physiological Sciences). We will discuss best practices for identifying granting foundations, writing the grant proposal, communicating with funders, and executing the grant. There will be snacks!
