One-at-a-Time Sessions

Schedule an individual consultation session focused on developing practical solutions for the immediate problem that has led you to seek support. You will learn strategies to help manage your concern outside of the appointment and, with the clinician, will discuss among a range of appropriate ‘next steps’. You may return for additional “one-at-a-time” appointments as needed (up to 8 times per year), or you may be connected with another on- or off-campus care option, depending on the best fit for your situation.

Teletherapy Session

Skidmore has contracted with BetterMynd, an online platform that offers access to individual teletherapy and group workshops for all fully enrolled and matriculated students. Students can independently schedule up to 12 teletherapy appointments/academic year with a provider of their choice and can choose from a diverse and culturally competent provider network. Services through BetterMynd are offered at no additional charge to students and are fully confidential.

Emergency Services

Same‐day emergency appointments are available for situations involving danger to self or others, recent experiences of sexual misconduct, or a recent physical assault. To access one of these appointments, students should come to the Counseling Center in‐person and request an emergency appointment at the front desk. Emergency appointments are held at 3:00 pm or more immediately as appropriate. Our office coordinator will be happy to offer assistance. For emergency assistance after normal business hours, via telephone, students should contact the Counseling Center main number (518‐580‐5555) and follow the prompts to access the appropriate resource.
