Skidmore students have voiced their concerns about the impacts of sexual and gender-based misconduct (SGBM) and their lived experiences on campus. As a College and a community, we are listening intently and we share their commitment to a campus community that is safe and welcoming for all.
In response to the concerns raised by students, the College is taking specific steps to do everything we can to listen, learn, and address this issue. There is no room for sexual misconduct, harassment, or interpersonal violence at Skidmore. We all deserve to live, work, and learn in a safe and respectful environment.
Skidmore recognizes the specific challenges of sexual and gender-based misconduct and the intersectional nature of SGBM issues as they affect specific identity groups, including LGBTQ and BIPOC students. Additional local and national resources are available that provide support to members of the LGBTQ community and support BIPOC mental health and wellness.

Students continued participation in the review of the College’s Title IX and SGBM policies is encouraged. An online form is now available for students to share their perspectives, feedback, and recommendations anonymously.- Staff from the Office of the Dean of Students, Health Promotion, and Title IX recently toured the new 8,000-square-foot facility of Wellspring, the domestic violence and sexual assault services resource for Saratoga County residents, in Malta and met with Executive Director Maggie Fronk.

- This week, we conducted eight listening sessions with students to learn more about sexual and gender-based misconduct (SGBM) and Title IX-related topics. These conversations were sometimes tough, but they were also illuminating and productive. It’s clear we all have work to do, and we will do it together.
- I write this afternoon with an update regarding feedback sessions as part of our efforts to address issues around sexual and gender-based misconduct at Skidmore College. The Office of the Dean of Students will host in-person feedback sessions for current Skidmore students beginning Monday, Nov. 1, through Wednesday, Nov. 3.
