Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin, including shared ancestry, in programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal law that prohibits employment discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, skin color, and sex, including gender, gender identity, pregnancy, and sexual orientation.
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) is a federal law that protects people 40 years of age or older from age-based employment discrimination.
The NY State Human Rights Law prohibits discrimination based on specific protected classes in employment, housing, credit, places of public accommodations, and non-sectarian educational institutions. Under the State Human Rights Law, every citizen has an 'equal opportunity to enjoy a full and productive life.
