Equal Opportunity and Title IX

Title IX and Equal Opportunity is the primary office at Skidmore College responsible for ensuring compliance with the College’s equal opportunity policies and for coordinating the response to reports of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual and gender-based misconduct (SGBM).

If there is immediate risk to health or safety, please contact Campus Safety at 518-580-5566 or local police at 911.

How to report

Every member of the Skidmore community has a responsibility to keep the environment free of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct. The College can only take corrective action when it becomes aware of problems. Therefore, the College encourages persons who believe that they have experienced discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or sexual and gender-based misconduct to come forward promptly with their inquiries, reports, or complaints and to seek assistance from the staff.

Any information about an incident of SGBM or bias may be helpful for monitoring trends, tracking patterns, and possibly starting a preliminary inquiry, but not knowing the names of involved or reporting parties will severely inhibit, if not prevent, the College from conducting an investigation or executing a thorough response.

Students and any member of the community should report suspected discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or sexual misconduct to:

Additionally:

  • Faculty and staff may report to Jude Klein, Associate Director for Employment, Compliance, and Workforce Diversity
  • Faculty may report to Oscar A. Pérez Hernández, Associate Dean of the Faculty
  • Students may report to Jenny Zilka, Deputy Title IX & Equal Opportunity Coordinator
  • Any Skidmore College community member can also make a report through the Bias Response Group.
  • Responses to reports will come from the Office of Equal Opportunity & Title IX. To speak to an advocate or counselor confidentially, please review options and resources on the Title IX page.
