ADA and Accessibility
In compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and various state laws and regulations, Skidmore College prohibits discrimination against students, employees, or applicants for enrollment or employment based on physical or mental disability or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a national law that protects qualified individuals from discrimination based on their disability. The nondiscrimination requirements of the law apply to employers and organizations that receive financial assistance from any federal department or agency.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in everyday activities. The ADA prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability just as other civil rights laws prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age, and religion. The ADA guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else to enjoy employment opportunities, purchase goods and services, and participate in state and local government programs.
