Andrew M. Lindner is Associate Professor of Sociology. He received a B.A. from Skidmore College and an M.A. and a Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University. He teaches courses on mass media, political sociology, sociology of sport, and research methods. While Professor Lindner’s primary research agenda relates to journalism in democratic societies, his research spans a range of topics including gender representation in Hollywood movies, the relationship between political attitudes and sports preferences, and anonymity-granting technology on the web. He loves the collaborative research process and frequently collaborates and publishes with students. His outreach projects include serving as Trends Editor of Contexts (2014-2017), writing for public outreach sites like Contexts and TheSocietyPages.Org, and analyzing data from a census of the local homeless population with Shelters of Saratoga.
