FYI from FYE, May 2026

Welcome to Skidmore!

Congratulations and welcome to the Skidmore College Class of 2030! As the Director of the First-Year Experience Program, I am pleased to outline your official Skidmore onboarding process, which will begin in the coming weeks. Below, you will find a summary of important tasks and deadlines, and a full list is available on our website. 

Please review the information carefully, and reach out to fye@skidmore.edu with any questions that you have.

All dates are subject to change, and we aim to give as much advance notice as possible.  

First Year Experience (FYE)

• The FYE Checklist is available for you to view in the Skidmore Student System. This is your summer to-do list, and many of the tasks listed below will be accessed through it. If you’re part of London FYE or the Opportunity Program, your checklist may look slightly different.
• Watch your email inbox for “FYI from FYE,” our monthly newsletter filled with reminders and campus updates. Want your family or support system to get the newsletter too? They can sign up here.
• Not in the Class of 2030 Discord yet? Join here to start connecting with your new classmates.

Academics

• May 18: Academic interest form due
• May 18: Scribner Seminar preferences due
• May 20: Advising and registration webinar (or catch the recording)
• June 1: Academic accommodations application opens (if needed)
• June 1–26: Meet with your Summer Advisor
• June 23 or 24: Class registration 

Admissions

• Before July 31: Submit your final high school transcript as soon as its available 

Housing

• June 19: Housing questionnaire due  
• July 15: Health forms due 
• July 22: Housing assignments released (if your health forms are in!) 

Move-In and Orientation

Most students (except those participating in the London FYE) move in on their arrival day. Pre-Orientation is optional but encouraged; registration opens on June 1. All new students will then take part in New Student Orientation, September 6–11. 

Arrival dates:  

• June 28: Opportunity Program students (by invitation)
• Varies: Fall athletes (check with your coach)
• August 27: London FYE students (on site in London)
• August 31: International students (by invitation)
• September 3: Pre-Orientation participants  
• September 6: All other new students
