Course Description

Randomness, logic and the universe

Instructor(s): Mary Odekon, Physics

Randomness is associated with unpredictability, but it is also a powerful tool for understanding the world. In this course, we examine applications of randomness theory on scales from subatomic particles to the distribution of galaxies. Perhaps most importantly, we examine applications that can help society make good decisions about topics as diverse as health care and criminal prosecution. This course includes hands-on exercises to practice developing an intuition for the implications of randomness.
