You have been selected as a reference for a student applying for admission to the
Skidmore College Pre-College Program in the Liberal and Studio Arts. If accepted,
the student will be living and studying on campus for five weeks and taking college
courses alongside college students. We attach great importance to your candid and
thoughtful assessment of the applicant's readiness for this kind of fast-paced and
intensive college experience. Many students, though intellectually gifted, are not
yet socially mature enough to handle an early introduction to the opportunities and
challenges associated with college life. It would be a disservice to recommend a student
who is not quite ready for this experience. Please be frank; acceptance decisions
will be based on all aspects of the application.
