Skidmore Spotlight: Lori Parks

March 15, 2018

Lori Parks works as safety systems administrator for Campus Safety at Skidmore.

Parks joined Skidmore in 1985 and held several roles—from dispatcher to security assistant—before assuming her current position. The focus of her work is to run and maintain the computer systems used by Campus Safety, and to manage the department general operations, including budgets, uniforms, supplies and statistics.

Parks said she was inspired to join Skidmore by her mother and aunt, who worked at the College at the time. Their enthusiasm for their jobs and the intriguing nature of academia led Park to apply for a part-time role in campus safety.

“Three months turned into six months and six months turned into 32 years," Parks said.

Parks said her connection to Skidmore extends to her daughter Sophie, who started her education in Skidmore’s Childhood Development Center is now a member of Skidmore’s Class of 2018.

“The ever-changing nature of my work and the opportunity to interact with my colleagues and the broader campus community make me eager to come to work each day,” Parks said.
