Classics Study Abroad

Kenchreai excavationThe department participates in the Kenchreai Archaeological Field School, an interdisciplinary excavation and study program co-directed by Professors Joseph Rife (Vanderbilt University) and Jorge Bravo (University of Maryland) at a Roman cemetery near Corinth in Greece's Peloponnese. Students excavate, study the material remains from the dig, and travel to major archaeological sites over the course of the four-week program. Partial scholarships are available both from Skidmore's Classics Department and from the Field School. The department expresses its appreciation to the Office of the Dean of the Faculty for the financial support it provides for our student participants.
