Academic Support

Skidmore’s Pre-College Program is fast-paced and demanding, so it is vital that students stay on top of the coursework. We offer several resources, including the Writing Center and academic advising, to provide academic support to Pre-College students throughout the program.

The Writing Center

Tutors are available to help you with ideas for a paper, a paper assignment, a draft of a paper, editing skills or any questions you have pertaining to your college-related writing. The Writing Center has a number of selected undergraduate tutors who are trained to help with writing in all disciplines. They can work with you on general writing concerns, such as organization, stylistics, grammar and punctuation. Tutors will not write, edit or proofread your paper, and they do not discuss grades on papers.

Tutors can assist you with analysis, argumentation, critical thinking and style by suggesting strategies for improvement that can be applied in many writing situations. Bring your assignment, drafts, parts of a paper or just your notes, and our tutors will be available to assist you.

This service is free for all Pre-College students.
